A Toronto intersection was shut down on April 5th, 2021, for construction. Businesses, particularly restaurants, were impacted because no outdoor patios were allowed. This, after more than a year in “pandemic mode”.
On July 20th, all construction stopped. After a month of no construction, no outdoor patios, and numerous complaints, the Senior Communications Coordinator at the City responded:
“An unforeseen utility conflict created a delay while installing new hydro poles at the KQQR intersection, which required detailed design modifications to ensure the safety and integrity of the intersection’s infrastructure both during and after construction. An updated construction schedule is being finalized and will be posted on the website soon.”
In other words, “The Project Manager f***d up.”
